Small Acts. Big Impact.

Fill a bag, feed a neighbour, strengthen our community.

A Simple Idea That Started with a Green Bag

In 2020, when the world felt heavy, we wanted to feel useful.
So we did something small. We left bright green bags on our neighbours’ doorsteps with a note listing what our local food banks needed most.

The idea was simple: clean out your pantry, fill the bag, and leave it on your porch. We’d come by, pick it up, and deliver it where it was needed most.

No fuss. No forms. Just kindness on your doorstep.

What Happened Next

In our first three years, more than 20 volunteers helped us support 6 local food banks in the Greater Toronto Area.
Together, our community filled thousands of bags with each one being proof that good people still exist and still care.

Then life paused us.
We lost my dad just before Christmas in 2022.
And in 2023, my friend and “work wife” Sunita ,who helped me launch this project, passed away suddenly.
It was too much. So I stopped but some of our amazing friends kept it going in their communities for 2 years.

But the world feels dark again.
And maybe it’s time we bring back a little light — together again.

Why We’re Back

Because kindness doesn’t expire.
Because food insecurity is rising again.
Because helping your neighbour shouldn’t be complicated.
Because we all want to feel like we’re doing something that matters, even in the smallest of ways.

How It Works

  1. We drop off a bright green bag at your door with a list of what the local food bank needs most.

  2. You fill it up with any items you’d like to donate such as unopened pantry goods you don’t want or extras you can spare.

  3. You leave it out on pickup day.

  4. We collect and deliver everything to the food bank — no contact, no hassle, super easy.

It’s that simple.

Get Involved

We’re always looking for:

  • Volunteers who can drop off or pick up bags.

  • Local partners (schools, offices, small businesses) who want to host collection drives.

  • Neighbours willing to be part of something good.

Want to help?
Send us an email at thekindpantryproject@gmail.com or message us on Instagram @thekindpantryproject.
Let’s make kindness contagious again.

There’s no media, no fanfare, and no spotlight here; just neighbours helping neighbours. If you’re looking for recognition, we’re probably not the right fit. But if you believe the best reward is the quiet feeling of knowing you made someone’s day a little lighter, then you’re exactly who we’re looking for.

Volunteer Charity

A Note from Katherine

I, along with my family and friends, started The Kind Pantry Project because we needed hope.
And every bag filled reminded us that people at their core, are still kind.
This is our small way of fighting back against the darkness.
And if it makes even one person feel seen, fed, or hopeful, then it’s worth it.

~Katherine Giovannone~
Founder, The Kind Pantry Project

The Kind Pantry Project started with one simple idea: make it easy for neighbours to help neighbours.

In 2020, Katherine and her family and friends, began leaving bright green bags on doorsteps with a note about what local food banks needed most. People filled them up, left them out, and we took care of the rest.

What began as one street turned into a community movement with over 20 volunteers and support for six food banks across Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, and Tottenham.

After a short pause, we’re back because kindness still matters, and small actions still add up.

Help Us Grow

We’re not a charity or a not-for-profit — just a group of people trying to make it easier to do good. Every dollar donated helps cover the cost of bags, printing, website hosting, fuel for pick-ups and deliveries, etc.

If you’d like to help, you can:

  1. Contribute financially using the options above. Any funds left at the end of the year are donated directly to the Vaughan Food Bank.

  2. Add a donation for your local food bank directly inside your green bag — they’ll provide a tax receipt.

  3. Buy our bright green bags for us directly through Uline here.
